A boy with a dusty blue shirt and a small leather pants sat on the steps of Hades Temple, staring up into the sky, when something gained his attention a small pustule bug was climbing up his arm. He quickly slapped it off his arm, right onto the boots of someone. The child realising how disrespectful it is to throw things at the other especially to someone with such nice boots quickly jumped to his feet without looking at the person, the child said "I'm sorry that I have dirtied your boots". Expecting a slap for his disrespect the child cringed, yet no slap arrived. Finally, the boy looked at his supposed attacker. The child not believing his eyes looked at the statue of Hades in the middle of the settlement just behind the man. Yep... That's definitely him. He is going to kill me.
Hades considered the small boy with the blue robe sitting alone on the steps to his wooden temple, if you could call it a temple! Well this Boy is to unite the continent all before he is 18 years of age... Damn that boy just threw a bug at me... "I'm sorry that I have dirtied your boots," shouted the boy without even glancing at Hades. Then the boy cringed as if anticipating a blow, realising that no blow was coming the boy glanced up Hades. Hades witnessed the boy's face go through several emotions first bewilderment, followed by shock, then comprehension and finally fatal terror. That is when Hades decided to speak.
"Boy! I do not take offense at you throwing a bug, nor would I ever hit a child." The boy looked at Hades with relief. "Though because you did soil my boots... I'm going to have to punish you" Hades savoured the moment, as the boy's hope was lost. "Clean my boots" The boy simply stared dumb, mute. "Are you slow boy? Start cleaning my boots! NOW!" With that, the boy jumped into action, literally leaping for Hades' boots. "Easy boy let me take them off before you try to clean them!" Hades removed the boots giving them to the boy. "Now I expect these cleaned by tonight. Meet me here in my temple once your finished." The boy nodded, ran, stoped and walked back and picked up the boots.
I can't believe he didn't kill me! I'm alive! Ha! Oh, wait... The boots! The boy ran back to where Hades was standing with his boots in his hand. The boy took the boots and ran towards the shaman's hut. Gasping for air at the entrance to the Shaman's hut the boy yelled, "Shaman! ... Shaman! ... Shaman!" A woman with pale skin and green eyes came out of covered entrance. She wore a dress made of some sort of wool and smelt of lavender, her face unmarked by age contained mild irritation.
"What is it boy?"
The boy tried to say everything at once, all that came out was an unintelligible noise. The Shaman approached the boy and laid an assuring hand on the boy, with the other hand she give him a slight slap to the face. "Clam down boy!" She shook him, "Yes that's right! Take big mouthfuls of air! Good now slowly explain to me your problem..." After the boy had regain most of his breath, the Shaman removed her hands and indicated that he should speak.
"Well I threw a huge bug at Hades"
"Did he hit you?"
"No!" The boy said with as much conviction as he could.
"Well I might as well do that now! Showing such disrespect towards your God." The Shaman stared at the boy waiting for a response.
The boy pleaded, "No... Please don't..."
"So what is your punishment then? To still others boots?" She said while pointing at the boots.
"It's to clean Hades' boats," The boy said with the straightest face
"You are being truthful?" The boy nodded. "So Hades told you just to clean his boots, is that it?" The boy nodded more enthusiastically. The Shaman laughed a full-hearted laugh. The boy stared unsure if to laugh or not. "I cannot believe Hades was so.... His brain must have stopped working correctly to have let you off so easy!"
"Shaman are you going to help me or not?"
"Yes dear I will" The Shaman said with a smile. She beckoned the boy into the hut.

"Now you need to add a root of ginseng, 4 sprigs of lavender and add 2 parts water. Then crush like so..." The Shaman began crushing the ingredients with two stones until they became a mushy powder. She then added the water. "Now mix it," She instructed the boy, who was making his own. "That's good! See how it has small bubbles. That means its ready." The boy nodded pleased with his work. "Now place the boots into the solution... Now rub the solution into them." The boy rubbed the solution into the boots. "Don't be shy rub it in!" With this encouragement, the boy had the boots all clean and sparkly within moments. The boy, proud of his achievement, made to exit the hut. The Shaman quickly grabbed the boys arm, "Silly boy! The boots are not dry they are wet!" The boy realising his foolishness sat back down quickly, he stared at the Shaman waiting for her to rebuttal him. The Shaman shook her head, "Dear boy, you're so young and so eager to please, that you forget common sense. The boots need to be dried otherwise they will become tough and smelly."
The boy knowing this to be wise advise nodded, "Yes, Shaman! I try to use common sense next time."
The Shaman smiled and indicated for him to hand the boots to her. The boy handed the boots over. The Shaman quickly placed them on the floor, positioned her hands above the boots and mutter "Az afiezou'me to ne'ro", her fingers began to glow a soft white then the water was drawn out of boots as if forced by some invisible hand. With the spheres of water floating just below the palms of the water, the Shaman gestured towards the ground a few feet away from her current position. The water as if guided by some slow current flew and spilled slowly into the ground. The boy, used to such feats of power, shrugged, "You made it go quite slow, why?"
"Child, I didn't want to ruin all our hard work by making the water splash dirt onto these clean boots."
"And you should be on your way Hades will grow impatient if you take to long" She dismissed him with her usual gesture, a small flick of the wrist. The boy nodded picked up, the now dried, boots and headed out of the hut, smelling of lavenders, through the empty streets of the early evening. He made it to the Temple just as the sun was setting, with a spectrum of reds and oranges.
Hades was listening to some elder complaining about the lack of something or another. Growing bored with the elder's rambling Hades decides to use his divine senses to locate the boy. There he is running towards the Temple... Shame he doesn't realise that he's going to trip over the first step.
The boy was running towards the Temple, as his speed was far too great for the frictionless dirt path he tripped over the first step. As the boy was falling, he managed to regain his balance and in tumbled through the entrance into the small Temple. The boy ran the remaining feet to the foot of the wooden throne that was occupied by Hades himself, without any boots on. Without a moment's pause, the boy presented the boots to Hades as a Hunter presents his prized kill to his Chieftain. Hades looked over the red-faced boy panting heavily before him, as Hades only thanks people by name; he searched the boy's mind for his name. Scaring the elders with his sudden outburst, "What? This cannot be!" Pointing at the boy, Hades inquired forcibly, "Boy, why is it that you have no name?!" The boy unsure of what this meant, gulped, appearing more and more anxious. Hades clearly fuming declared to the elders. "Why is it that this boy has no name?" The elder that was complaining to Hades before, now shaken, replied with "Iono... When he was chieftain, commanded that because Cath'na, the boy's mo..."
Hades interjected, "I know that fool! Tell me what the meaningless babble the worm said!"
The elder now visibly trembling, "Yes Master, Lord Hades... The worm said that Cath'na slept with a member of another tribe..."
Hades demanded of the elder, "What does the boy's father have to do with this?"
"Well as it turns out Lord Hades Iono... I mean the worm... Cursed, Cath'na, did not give the baby a name... Cath'na must have..."
"Enough!" thundered the Lord of the Underworld. "Leave us! Do not return until tomorrow's eve!" The elders clearing not used to Hades fiery anger quickly ran from the Temple, though the elder that had spoken hesitated. Hades noticed this and with a flick of the wrist caused the earth around the elder to kick him on the backside. The elder quickly fled after his fellow elders.
