More.

There was one day that Cory loathed more than Mondays... and that was Sunday. "I swear to God, dude. It's like Sunday's not even part of the weekend. It's Friday afternoon through Saturday night. That's it. That's the weekend. Sunday's the day where you have to catch up on all the shit you should have been doing the other two days, but put off. And now Monday is twelve hours away, and there's eighteen hours of work left to do. Every Sunday is like this. Every one."

Cory and his friend Tim were walking, trudging, down the sidewalk on their way to the school's main library. Tim had a group project meeting that he was a half hour late for. Cory just wanted to get out of their sardine can-sized room for an hour. They were joined by typical Sunday early afternoon traffic. The unhappy, exhausted, hungover, and ashamed faces of their fellow classmates drifted by. Nobody made eye contact, they were all too busy staring at the ground.

"Tell me about it. And this fucking bitch in my group schedules a meeting at noon on a Sunday. Who does that?"

"Good students do," Cory replied with a grin. "Nice job being on time, by the way."

"Smartass. Like you should talk. What was that you were saying about having a shitload of work to do today? Why don't you go do some of that instead of following me around, making fun of me all day?"

"Oh, I will. Just gotta put it off for a few more hours until the heat's really on. I thrive under pressure."

"Riiiiiggggghhhhht, dude. Right. Remind me to find somewhere else to crash tonight while you scream and yell and throw stuff around the room cause you didn't do your shit earlier. I plan on getting at least six hours sleep tonight, and I'm not gonna have you fuck that up. I'm still recovering from that party last night. You shoulda been there."

"Yeah, I know. I just couldn't get around to it. You know, things come up. Any hot girls?"

Tim grinned. "There's always hot girls, dude. Last night there were these three. Stayed together all night, looked out of place, uncomfortable, uneasy."

"Your kind of girls, right?" Cory nudged Tim with his elbow.

"My kind of girls. So I made them feel at home. Got them drinks, introduced them to people, made 'em laugh, showed 'em my bulging biceps. You know, the usual."

"Did you do the head thing?"

"Yeah, but they weren't impressed. They were all modded too. Wasn't a big deal to them."

"All of them? Weird."

"Yeah, and you know what? They said they didn't go here. Went to some school up north. But I don't think they go to any college. I think they were high school girls."

"Ah, that would explain them all being modded. Sometimes I wish I was a few years younger. There's hardly any people our age or older with mods, but it seems like all the younger people have them. They get all the cool shit. So you didn't touch any of them, did you?"

"It was tempting, I'll tell you that. I could tell that all three wanted me... at the same time." Tim gave a little wink. "But I had to turn them down. I mean, they were my sister's age. Hell, they could have been my sister's friends."

"Good choice, dude." They stopped at a street corner. "Alright, man. I'm headed this way. I'll..." Cory stopped mid-sentence.

"Hey, you spaced. What's up?"

"Is that president Edwards? Running across the street over there? I don't think I've ever seen him just, like, out and about."

"Yeah, I think it is. Weird. I wonder where he's off to in such a hurry. Oh well, guess I should hurry off to this damn meeting. I'll see you later, man."

"Later."
