A Night in the Valley

Jake watched as "Mac Hottie Priscilla Poses" slid down the rankings. "Why would so many people dig this down?" he asked himself. He had purposefully chosen the title to bring attention to the story. He cursed to himself quietly; so the mob did have a price! Jake was stuck. The camera on his head - his latest attempt to join the Web 2.0 love in - had become both his prisoner and his saviour.

Jake had underestimated the difficulty of Jake.tv. The constant attention, celebrity and fame; it had all become too much. Three weeks ago, a desperate Jake had fooled his viewers with the help of a cassette recorder and a well dressed mannequin and made his escape. He had repeated the trick every evening since then.

Yesterday evening, Jake had headed into the sanctuary of the valley and it was there he had spotted Priscilla. The "Princess of PR" was known for her discretion - a trait that was valuable in her profession and to Jake. And without the camera on his head, which had proved a significant hindrance with women, Jake felt particularly lucky. But as he mused over his introduction, he had witnessed a horrifying sight.

Jake felt trapped. Coming forward as a witness would destroy the credibility of Jake.tv. He felt for the both reassuring and stifling presence of the camera on his head and silently thanked the hordes of people willing to watch his every action. He knew the around the clock surveillance of the community would keep him safe from the murderous designs of Max Powers.
