Leonidas tries to fill Pernicus in on the situation

Both Leonidas and Pernicus stood on the aft deck of the Aratea. the crew were in frantic activity, trying to get the ship moving as fast as she would go. Leonidas was confident they would outrun the Spartans to Egypt. From then on though, things may get problematic.
"What's going on here Leonidas? You never mentioned being wanted by the Spartans - what did you do?"
"Pernicus, I need to tell you why we are sailing to Egypt."
"You said this was supposed to be a voyage to explore new lands."
"Oh believe me, we will tread where no Greek has ever been. But right now we need information, and that information is in Egypt."
"What do you mean?" Pernicus said with overt suspicion.
"Do you know how the Spartans defeated the Athenians at Mantinea?"
"The Spartan forces were larger, and though our men were braver, we were outnumbered. What has this got to do with anything?"
"That's not it. the Spartans had a weapon, far more powerful than anything Athens can dream of."
"How do you know this?"
"I sold it to them."
Pernicus' eyes widened. His hands clenched to fists. Veins rising to the surface and through gritted teeth, he said,
"It's not funny to joke about the deaths of thousands Leonidas."
"If only I was. Let me explain..."
Leonidas could see Pernicus was considering attacking him. Leonidas was in no shape for a fight. Especially not against someone like Pernicus, whose body had been sculpted through hard labour. Recently Leonidas had profited from his endeavors, and his waistline had expanded accordingly. Well, maybe a good fight would help him back into shape. It would also help Pernicus overcome the matter of Leonidas' betrayl of Athens. By considering all this, Leonidas was a little slow to react to Pernicus' oncoming fist.
He heard a snapping sound from his jaw, felt searing pain, unsteady legs; and fell face first onto the deck.
