There are few options you have when posting in terms of style

Bold: this is bold
Put an asterik around words you want to make bold

Italics: this is italic
Put forward slashes around words you want to make italic

URLs: done with the URL bbcode tag, [ url = link ] description [ /url ] (no spaces)
Note: you don't need to use the URL tag to just designate a URL, the forum will auto-detect them, e.g http://www.portrayl.com

Quotes: you can also quote text using the [quote] tag (again without spaces):

This is a quote
