Chapter 1 : The beginning
There is no possibility that he is going to make it but he has to try. Tom is running through the cold and rainy morning. He is winded and his lungs feel like there are going to burst. He cannot stop. He has to be at the station, has to reach to train before she is leaving.
The outlines of the tumble-down railway buildings start to loom in the distance. It's a quarter to seven; he has to hurry, has to take a shortcut, just ten minutes. He passes around a corner, tree man are standing there. He has seen them before. One of them screamed something to him in Spanish but Tom could not understand it. Suddenly, one of them follows him. Tom does not react; he is scared of his persecutor and even more of missing Jessica. ...
